NATURAL FIBRE WAS MADE FOR HAND WASHING
Hand washing is best for garment longevity, but see machine washing below if needed.
- Fill basin with lukewarm water, not hot – as hot water will shrink the yarn and set any stains
- Wash with a teaspoon of mild wool detergent, avoid fabric softeners as these may damage fibres
- Gently swirl and squeeze your vest in the water, don’t over lather
- Don’t rub the vest against itself, or matting and piling may result
- Rinse in the same water temperature as washing
- Remove from the water without wringing your vest
- Roll vest in a towel and press down gently to absorb excess water
- Spread your vest flat on a dry towel, don’t pull it out
- Dry flat away from direct heat or sunlight

BEST PRACTICE FOR MACHINE WASHING
Your vest can be washed in a washing machine with attention to settings. We recommend washing your garment on its own.
- Turn your vest inside out, or place in a mesh wash bag
- Set your machine to the ‘wool/hand wash or delicate’ setting
- Check also that it is set to cold water
- Set the spin cycle to minimum
- Use an approved gentle wool detergent and avoid fabric softeners
- Remove vest from your machine, gently reshape the garment and lay it flat on a dry towel, away from direct heat or sunlight

- But we suggest washing your vest by hand on it’s own
- Use lukewarm water (30 degrees or less)
- Choose a mild wool detergent specified for wool use
- Do not over lather, a small amount of liquid soap does the trick
- Gently swirl the garment in the water, no vigorous rubbing or wringing
- Wash and rinse in the same temperature to avoid shrinkage
- Remove from water and roll your vest in a towel
- Press the towel in repeatedly and gently to absorb water
- Lay flat to dry in shade, shaping the garment on a towel
- Do not tumble dry (otherwise shrinkage will occur)
Useful Vest Care Tips

TIPS TO STAY SHARP
- WRINKLES: To remove any wrinkles after washing and once your vest is dry, use a lightly-damp pressing-cloth and a warm iron on a very low temperature. Cover your vest with the pressing cloth and use the steam button to infuse moist air into the garment to remove any small wrinkles.
- PILLING: Pilling refers to the little balls that form on a vest due to minor rubbing when worn. The occurrence of ‘shedding’ in the first few wears is the natural process of the fibres relaxing and actually makes your garment softer. All 100% cashmere will pill a little. Pilling is a natural characteristic of even the finest cashmere. If you notice balls of pilling forming, lay your vest over a flat surface like a clean ironing board, take a cashmere comb and brush in one direction – top to bottom works well. Don’t be shy, it won’t hurt the fabric as long as you’re holding the garment firmly on the flat surface.
- STORAGE: Wash your vest at the end of season, before storage, to remove any food for moths. We suggest storing your vest folded and kept flat in a drawer. Don’t hang your vest on a hanger, otherwise gravity will stretch it out over time.
